Through the generous support of our members, the Denver Chapter of the ISACA is making $6,000 available for scholarships in 2012 (six individual scholarships - two in the amount of $1,500, and two in the amount of $1,000, and two in the amount of $500). Current full-time undergraduate or graduate students who are studying information systems, business, accounting, or computer science at an accredited college in Colorado are invited to apply.

To be eligible for the scholarships, the following criteria must be met:

  • Completed application
  • Prepare a typed single spaced essay/paper that is 2-3 pages discussing a topic of your choosing from among the following four categories (examples of paper topics given in parentheses):

    IT Governance (e.g., how IBM's Smarter Planet Initiative effectively utilizes information technology to advance strategic goals for the company)

    IT Assurance (e.g., the importance of IT Assurance Services for outsourced IT services business models like Apptis, Inc.)

    IT Security (e.g., security issues surrounding the utilization of cloud computing)

    IT Risk Management (e.g., Integration of IT Risk Management with Enterprise Risk Management)

  • Full-time undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited Colorado institution in good standing.
  • Pursuing business or information systems related degrees, such as: Business Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Accounting, Business or Computer Science.
  • Must be a currently enrolled student.
  • Provide a copy of transcripts to prove enrollment. Transcripts do not need to be official transcripts - transcripts printed by the student from the University's system are acceptable.
  • Final Recipients will be asked to attend a complimentary ISACA meeting in order to present the scholarship and meet the membership.
  • ISACA members are not eligible, with the exception of student members.

Applications, transcripts, and essays must be mailed to ISACA by February 29, 2012 (see mailing instructions on application). Applications and essays MUST also be emailed to scholarship@isaca-denver.org by February 29, 2012. Applications and essays/papers will be evaluated by volunteer ISACA members. Funds will be issued directly to the student by the ISACA Denver Chapter.
